Learning at Esbjerg International School

Secondary

Secondary classes start in Year 7 when students are typically eleven years old and end in Year 11 when students are usually 16 or 17. Learning activities are developed from the Cambridge International Curriculum which has two parts in the Secondary Years: Lower Secondary and the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE). Lower Secondary includes Years 7-9 and IGCSE covers Years 10-11.  The Secondary programme at EIS has four key strengths.

  1. It provides excellent preparation for success at institutions of higher learning, such as for the International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma, A-Levels and university.
  2. The Cambridge International Curriculum for Secondary students presents an external, international benchmark that gives students, parents and teachers a clear and regular measure of a student’s key strengths in detail, as well as an indication of areas in need of specific improvement.
  3. There is an international focus in learning with students becoming familiar with aspects of many countries, including their own and their host country.
  4. The learning opportunities we offer our students are flexible and differentiated.  Students are challenged according to their individual abilities and are given a variety of activities in which they can demonstrate these abilities.
